Wind Training

This past weekend I rode with the Ladies on a 160 mile bike ride in two days. on both days we had a great head wind. I was impressed with how the ladies handled the winds, on the second day I rode alone for the last 30 miles. I had 4 of the ladies ahead of me and they were doing well working the pace line. I wanted to use the day as a training day, The wind was at 25 mph with cross winds. The last 9 miles before we turned back for camp was up hill in a constant wind. I would look up and think that the road was going to flatten out around the bend, but it did not, I could see the color jerseys still climbing ahead of me. This was a great mind builder. I thought I might get a flat tire, I thought about called it and was turning for camp, but I could not because my 4 team mates were at the top waiting, so I kept going.. There wasn't any coasting because if you stopped paddling you would stop moving, yes, the wind was that strong.... We called it the never ending hill.

What I learned was keep paddling and you will reach your goal. The mind is the body killer, I must keep strong thoughts and good thoughts in order to do this.
